My husband and I had wanted to do this volunteer trip with our kids for years. We headed to Chiang Mai and that’s located in the northern part of Thailand. We stayed there for a little over 3 weeks. Pomelo Travel helped us make this trip happen. Our guides, Chris and PeeTee were amazing. They showed us the way so we could enjoy the trip. Towards the end, we did a volunteer project up at a school. I would vote this as a life-changing trip. We also found some things to do in Thailand with kids and are sharing those with you here. Check Out These Things to Do in Thailand with KidsCheck out this video showing some of the things to do in Thailand with kids. BE aware…the elephants will make you want to visit Thailand! Play with elephants: We booked a trip to play with elephants at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary through Pomelo Travel. The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary raises awareness and teaches people about the care of elephants and the plight of Asian elephants.

Some women wear their power like a badge where others exude a quiet confidence. Here are eight habits of highly successful women that any woman can emulate. 8 Habits of Highly Successful Women1. They value education and continue learning.A successful woman understands that education is important and she pursues it. Whether it is formal or informal—successful women are always increasing their learning. Head chef and owner of Prune restaurant in New York City, Gabrielle Hamilton was the only woman to garner a 2017 James Beard nomination (the Oscars of food awards) in the category of national Outstanding Chef. Hamilton began with an MFA in creative writing and then pursued a career in catering, opened her own restaurant and even wrote an award-winning memoir Blood, Bones, and Butter. Without actually attending culinary school, Gabrielle Hamilton has won acclaim from some of the country’s best chefs with her self-taught cooking style. Margaret Atwood was 46 years old when she wrote The Handmaid’s Tale in 1985, a best-selling novel and now a Hulu original series that just won a Golden Globe award. Atwood also wrote Alias Grace in 1996 which recently became a Netflix mini-series. Today at nearly 80 years old, Atwood helped write and produce both of these adaptations of her novels for TV. In her lifetime, Margaret Atwood has written 14 novels, several short stories, over a dozen poetry collections, and she even invented the LongPen–a remote signing device that uses a robotic hand. This sister’s not stopping anytime soon. 2. Successful women are articulate.Successful women emit confidence and maybe that’s because they have learned to be articulate. They always know what to say and when to say it. A girl boss can command a courtroom, a business meeting, or a podcast because she has a handbag full of verbiage and she knows how to use it. Sheryl Sandberg is the COO of Facebook and one of the nation’s most influential female executives. She led Facebook in skyrocketing revenues and previously spent six years as a Google vice president. Not only is Sandberg a business powerhouse, but she is a huge supporter of women’s empowerment too. She’s written two books focused on the subject and even founded a non-profit organization called Lean In to help women everywhere realize their potential. Sandberg has dazzled many audiences with her articulation and her TED talks are some of the most influential ever given. 3. They persevere.Successful women don’t get to the top by stopping and giving up; they keep climbing. Perseverance is one key to success and if anyone knows about that, it’s mega-author J.K. Rowling. When she wrote the first novel in the Harry Potter series, she was a single mom living close to poverty. Now over 400 million copies later, an entire Universal Studios replication of the magical world she created, and several blockbuster films later, J.K. Rowling is a multi-millionaire and one of the most influential women in the world. 4. Successful women get stuff done.Even when the job is hard or not ideal, successful women know how to step in and take care of business. Michelle Obama has been the epitome of poise and leadership since her husband’s first term as the president of the United States of America in 2009 to today. While her husband was in office, Michelle Obama brought childhood obesity to the forefront and launched the Let’s Move! initiative to encourage kids to get eat healthy and exercise. During Obama’s second term in office, Michelle formed the Reach Higher movement to inspire young people to pursue higher education. As a Harvard Law School graduate and former corporate and public service lawyer, Michelle Obama made a difference. 5. She’s not afraid of hard work.Being successful doesn’t come easy. You gotta work to get paid and success only comes to those who know how to work hard. Arianna Huffington is a Greek American and founder of The Huffington Post. She was a co-host for BBC and has written a number of books. Her entire life has been spent working in politics and media and in 2005 she co-founded The Huffington Post, working to bring America news, satire, and opinions on everything from politics to entertainment to women’s interests. In 2011 AOL acquired The Huffington Post for $315 million and made Arianna Huffington editor-in-chief. She has been listed by Forbes as one of the world’s most powerful working women. 6. Successful women share their light and give back. The mark of a truly successful woman is that she gives back. She shares her talents and strengths to help lift others and society. She gives encouragement, service, and even money to better the situations of those around her. Melinda Gates isn’t just one of the wealthiest women in the world (Bill and Melinda Gates have a net worth of $85.7 billion), but she is also an avid philanthropist and advocate for global health and equality, especially among girls and women. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gives food to the hungry, vaccinations to the impoverished, and educational opportunities to people all over the world. 7. They pursue what excites them.A woman who realizes her talents and dares to pursue them is already a success. Oprah Winfrey was born in rural Mississippi to poverty and a teenage single mother. She was later raised in an inner-city neighborhood where she was molested as a child and became pregnant at 14 years old. When her infant son died, Winfrey went to live with the man she considers her father in Tennessee. She got a job as a co-anchor on the local news when she was only 19 and she was good at her job and that was exciting. After working her way up to daytime talk show host, the entire world is now on a first name basis with Oprah. After a hugely successful career, Oprah keeps pursuing what excites her, starring in films like A Wrinkle in Time and starting her OWN network. 8. A successful woman defies cultural or gender norms and transcends them.A successful woman doesn’t let society tell her what she can and can’t do. Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi is an Indian American business executive and the CEO of PepsiCo—the second largest beverage and food company in the world. Nooyi has an impressive resume of Yale School of Management and elite management positions at other large companies. She transcends cultural and gender stereotypes and is a powerful leader on her own merit.
For every women listed here who is in the spotlight for her success, there are hundreds more successful women in the world doing incredible things every day. Mothers, teachers, grandmothers, lawyers, entrepreneurs…women who have learned to make these habits their own. Harness these traits and you’re a force to be reckoned with. I absolutely loved it and was so […] The post Mr. Bubbles Slime appeared first on Smart School House. by Kelly via Home And Garden via Blogger Mr. Bubbles Slime You’ve probably heard tidbits, if not waves about the new miracle spice that claims to have unbelievable healing powers. It’s actually not all that new. What’s all the buzz about Turmeric, the spice used in Indian curry? Well, for 4,000 years, Turmeric (aka Curcumin) has been used in Eastern medicine to treat inflammation (think arthritis), to fight infection, treat digestive problems, and cure skin diseases (adios, acne!). Many herbalists and holistic practitioners even claim that Turmeric has powerful cancer-fighting properties. So is there anything to it? You’ll have to try it and decide for yourself. *(Consult your doctor before adding any supplement, turmeric included especially if you are currently on any medications.) Here are 8 ways you can use Turmeric to help heal your family and get an added boost of superfood powers!
1. Whole root or ground powder?Turmeric comes in two forms: whole root or ground spice powder. You can find whole root turmeric in health food stores and grocery stores (it looks kinda like ginger). Peel off the skin with a spoon or peeler and then grate the root to use in soups, dressings, smoothies, etc. If using the powdered version, buy organic turmeric spice, free of chemicals, preservatives, and additives. 2. Should I take the pill? Many people are using turmeric capsules as a daily supplement. Although in capsule form, you may be missing out on the full potential turmeric has to offer as opposed to cooking with it. Skip the supplement. The active agents in turmeric are fat soluble, meaning that they require a fat source (like coconut and cooking oil) to effectively absorb nutrients¹. Sooo…the best way to get your turmeric miracle agents is through cooking. Yum! 3. Turmeric + Black Pepper=POW!To increase the POWer of turmeric, add a little black pepper to it. Turmeric and black pepper are like the ultimate power couple…the Brangelina of spices if you will. Curcumin (the active agent in turmeric) is a powerful anti-inflammatory and black pepper contains piperine, which helps reduce pain². When cooking veggies, start with a little coconut oil in a pan and add a turmeric and a pinch of black pepper until hot. Then add your veggies and saute to perfection! 4. Drink “Golden Milk.”Golden Milk is an ancient Ayurvedic drink made with turmeric and milk. It’s creamy, satisfying, and good for you! In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of almond milk, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp coconut oil, a dash of black pepper, a tsp of vanilla, then honey or agave to taste. Add a dash of cinnamon on top–delish! See more yummy Golden Milk recipes here! 5. Add turmeric to your smoothies. An easy way to get a little turmeric is by adding it to your smoothies. Make sure to combine your turmeric with a little coconut oil before adding it to your smoothie, preferably heated together. Try our favorite smoothie recipes or specific turmeric smoothie recipes found on Pinterest. 6. Shake it up in your dressings and marinades.Turmeric is a perfect addition to salad dressings and meat marinades. Add 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of turmeric to any of these delicious homemade vinaigrettes for a delicious and miraculous meal. 7. Make a turmeric spice rub for meats. If you’re not a huge fan of curry, you can get your turmeric on top of a big, fat, juicy steak. Try this copycat Texas Roadhouse steak rub or any of these spice rubs for chicken, steak, or seafood. 8. Try a turmeric facial mask.Have you seen those crazy yellow face masks floating around your Facebook or Pinterest feed? However silly they seems, people are swearing by turmeric face masks and the acne-fighting, scar-fading power they have. Hey, I’m willing to try anything once!
